Ludlow Cafe Makes New Appointments

Richard And Zac

Our cafe has been hiring additional staff to cope with growing demand. The Conservatory Barn Cafe has recently hired 6 new members of staff including a new chef. Zac Birchley from Bewdley, Worcestershire, has joined the cafe after successfully running the kitchen at popular gastro-pub the Mug House in Bewdley. Zac, 34, is married and expecting his first child in 2 months. He says,

‘The Conservatory Barn is the perfect change for me. The whole ethos is about fresh, local and seasonal food which is exactly the kind of cooking I like. It’s also going to be nice working more sociable hours and seeing my first child grow up’

Zac is inspired by Aldo Zilli, the Italian chef, and lived in Spain for 5 years so will no doubt bring a slight taste of the Mediterranean to Ludlow. He says,

‘Local, seasonal ingredients can be used in such diverse ways and I am really looking forward to creating a new menu. The choice of produce on offer in this region is superb, we really are spoilt for choice and I intend to utilise as much as possible’

Our cafe manager Richard Davies has significantly increased the turnover the Conservatory Barn in the last 12 months and is projecting further growth before the end of 2011. He has achieved this without increasing prices and has also significantly increased the number of staff, adding 6 new employees in 2011. The cafe now employs 14 people and caters for hundreds of customers every day. Richard says,

‘Having Zac on board is really going to improve our food offering. Zac is creative and understands what we stand for. I am sure his new menu will be exciting and fresh for our regular and new customers. Our new team members have all joined us from the local area and are providing the highest level of customer service’
