Ludlow Food Centre’s play area has been officially opened – with the help of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity mascot, Maac the bear.

The official opening, which took place on August 3, also hosted the charity’s bouncy air ambulance and stall with games and pop-up shop, with the ribbon officially cut by Grace Rhodes – daughter of Ludlow Food Centre employee Debbie Rhodes.

The day raised a total of £191 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Paul Hill, Commercial Manager at Ludlow Food Centre, said: “We really wanted to get as many people as possible involved in the official opening, and make it a fun day out during the long summer holidays.

“Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is a vital charity in rural Shropshire, and is our Charity of The Year, and I am so pleased that so many have turned out to meet Maac and have a day of fun and play.

“We hope that Ludlow Food Centre is seen very much as a destination for families as well as regular shoppers, and hope to see many more children here during the summer holidays!”

Maria Jones, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s (MAAC’s) Fundraising Manager, added: “It’s always a joy to work with Ludlow Food Centre, and we’re delighted that they wanted us to get involved with their official play area opening.

“It was brilliant to bring Maac the bear along to say hello to lots of excited children, as well as our bouncy air ambulance, which always proves a hit with crowds.

“Since April, Ludlow Food Centre has raised almost £1,000 for the charity through events and collections – and we hope that this continues throughout the summer. We are always grateful for its continued support.”

Ludlow Food Centre, based in Bromfield, has recently welcomed a brand new picnic area, and has introduced freshly-made sandwiches to its offering.
