Experts from the acclaimed Ludlow Food Centre in Shropshire will be showing food lovers how to produce delicious dishes from every cut, in a meat masterclass at this year’s action packed BBC Good Food Show, coming to Birmingham’s NEC between 28th November and 2nd December 2007.

Following a run of popular butchery demonstrations at the Ludlow Food Festival in September, Good Food Show organisers invited the Centre’s butcher, John Brereton, and M.D Sandy Boyd to take the 3.35pm afternoon slot in the Good Food Magazine British Theatre, where top British chefs Paul Rankin, Brian Turner, Lesley Waters and Sophie Conran will also be showing off their culinary talents.

Fresh from his speaker appearance at the national FARMA conference, Sandy Boyd can’t wait to take the stage at the year’s most anticipated consumer food and drink event. He says ‘We are very excited to have been invited to the BBC Good Food Show and are looking forward to showing people what we’re about. John will be preparing a lamb carcass in front of the audience so they can see where popular cuts such as cutlets and loin chops come from, but he’ll also be highlighting lesser known cuts such as shoulder and breast of lamb and suggesting ways of cooking them to create wonderful family meals. I’ll be fielding questions from the audience and explaining how Ludlow Food Centre farmers produce our superb rare breed and organic meats.’

Thanks in part to recent national publicity in Olive magazine and BBC Radio Four’s Food Programme, the Ludlow Food Centre’s reputation as a new, sustainable breed of local food store is spreading across the UK and to the capital. In addition to the invitation to appear in the food theatre, the Centre has been approached by the Gordon Ramsay Scholar Awards to supply top quality produce for aspiring young chefs to work with in a series of live competition heats running throughout the show. Finalists will be judged by Angela Hartnett and Mark Askew and the winner will get the chance to work alongside Gordon at three of his international signature restaurants.

Not wanting to miss out on meeting thousands of food lovers face to face, the Ludlow Food Centre will also be exhibiting at the Good Food Show at stand LUD13. A selection of the Centre’s exciting new cheeses will be on display and available to sample, alongside a new range of Ludlow gift packs, including the limited edition £100 hamper loaded with luxurious, handmade edible treats, the perfect Christmas gift.
