Food Centre shortlisted twice in first ever Great British Cheese Awards
Ludlow Food Centre has been shortlisted to be named both Best Speciality Cheese Retailer and Best Artisan Cheese Producer in the inaugural Great British Cheese Awards.
The awards, sponsored by Great British Chefs and artisan crispbread producer Peter’s Yard, celebrate the very best in cheese production and retail across the country.
With ten categories – from Best Speciality Cheese Retailer to Best Artisan Cheese Producer, and Best Hard Cheese to Best Fresh Cheese – the public can now vote for their favourite in each category.
Dudley Martin, Dairy Manager at Ludlow Food Centre, based in Bromfield, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that we have been shortlisted twice in the Great British Cheese Awards’ first year.
“This highlights the passion and knowledge of our dedicated team, as well as proving that our counter is host to some of the finest cheeses from our locale – including ten of our own handmade cheeses – as well as further afield.
“For both our counter and our own cheeses to be recognised nationally is a privilege – and we’re all crossing our fingers for a win!”
Wendy Wilson-Bett, Co-founder and Managing Director at Peter’s Yard, added: “Chefs, food writers and the general public describe our crispbread as being the 'perfect host' for cheese, so we are always happy to showcase the very best examples being made in the UK today.
“The Great British Cheese Awards allows us to recognise and celebrate cheese producers and retailers who are uncompromising about their range of products and, who like us, value craftsmanship and taste.
“We encourage as many cheese lovers to vote for their favourite producers and retailers, to give them the credit they deserve.”
